The Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) has sent a fraternal and hopeful greeting to the new presidency of the Conference of Religious of Brazil (CRB), recently elected, at a key moment for religious life and the synodal journey of the Church in Brazil and Latin America and the Caribbean.
In its message, CEAMA joyfully expresses its unity with all consecrated life in Brazil in congratulating and thanking those who have taken up this new ecclesial service for their willingness. This gesture is highlighted as a generous response to the Gospel, “which inspires us to journey together as a synodal Church, prophetic and incarnated in the cries of the peoples and of our Common Home.”
The letter highlights the fundamental role of consecrated life in the Amazonian territories, recognizing its witness as a source of hope in contexts marked by injustice and exclusion. It also underscores the capacity of religious women and men to build bridges between spirituality, interculturality, and transformative action, three pillars that also animate the ecclesial process with an Amazonian face and a missionary heart promoted by CEAMA.
From this perspective, the commitment to collaboration between both bodies is renewed, with a focus on common challenges such as intercultural education, youth support, the defense of territories, and the promotion of new forms of consecrated life emerging from indigenous communities.
“We trust that this new phase of the CRB will further strengthen the role of religious life in Brazil and in the Beloved Amazon,” the message states, concluding by invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the maternal protection of Mary, Mother of the Amazon.
This greeting reaffirms CEAMA’s willingness to continue building networks of communion, discernment, and prophetic action alongside religious life in Brazil, at a historic moment when synodality and incarnate mission are more necessary than ever.
