In an atmosphere of fraternity, prayer, and pastoral discernment, the clergy of the Apostolic Vicariate of Pando (Bolivia) gathered in Riberalta for a day of fellowship aimed at renewing their ministerial commitment and planning new evangelization initiatives in service to Amazonian communities.
The gathering helped strengthen communion among the priests serving this vast region of northern Bolivia, marked by significant pastoral, social, and territorial challenges.
A time of retreat and spiritual renewal
During the first part of the gathering, participants engaged in a spiritual retreat centered on the transformative power of Easter and the mystery of Christ’s Resurrection.
Through personal and communal prayer, the priests shared their experiences during Holy Week in their various parishes and communities, recognizing how the Easter message continues to foster hope among the Amazonian peoples.
It was also a space to contemplate God’s presence in the midst of daily mission work, especially where the Church accompanies remote communities, vulnerable families, and peoples yearning for justice and peace.
Pastoral Planning with a Vision for the Future
In the afternoon, the session focused on pastoral organization and the implementation of the guidelines promoted by the Bolivian Episcopal Conference.
Among the highlighted priorities were:
- Youth Ministry
Reflection took place on new ways to reach out to, listen to, and accompany young people, seeking to respond to their concerns, cultural challenges, and spiritual search in times of change.
- Family Ministry
Ways to strengthen family ministry were also proposed, promoting processes of formation, accompaniment, and support for households in the Vicariate.
These lines of action seek to respond to the concrete realities of the Bolivian Amazon, where many families face economic difficulties, territorial mobility, and rapid social changes.
A Church Walking in Fraternity
The work took place in an atmosphere of closeness, dialogue, and a spirit of collaboration, strengthening the bonds among the priests serving in this vast Amazonian region.
The day concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist at the Cathedral of Riberalta, where the challenges and pastoral projects shared throughout the day were presented to the Lord.
Subsequently, a fraternal gathering provided an opportunity to reaffirm that priestly communion is an essential pillar for sustaining the evangelizing mission in the Amazonian territories.
A Sign of Hope for the Amazon
CEAMA values these opportunities for encounter that strengthen a Church that is close to the people, synodal, and committed to the lives of the Amazonian peoples.
From Pando, the Church continues to walk alongside its communities, proclaiming hope and building a future in the heart of the Amazon.
