This 2025 we celebrate a decade of the publication ofPraise be to you, a prophetic encyclical that transformed the Church’s conscience regarding the care of our Common Home. It was not just another text: it was—and continues to be—an urgent call tointegral ecological conversion, to justice for the peoples and to a spirituality that reconciles humanity with the earth.

From the green heart of the world, the Amazon—wounded, plundered, and silenced for centuries—embraced this encyclical as a voice that gave it voice, dignity, and visibility. More than 400 Indigenous peoples, ancestral guardians of this sacred biome, have been recognized not as recipients of aid, but as interlocutors for a new way of inhabiting the world.

Ten years later, the socio-environmental crisis has worsened. Deforestation, fires, violence against socio-environmental leaders, and disregard for indigenous knowledge show us how deeply our Common Home is torn apart. But new lights have also been lit: communities, women, young ecclesials, and Indigenous peoples have risen to the occasion, making the Gospel good news for the earth.

Celebrating this decade isn’t just about looking back: it’s about renewing our commitment to a Church that listens, cares, and reconciles. It’s about realizing that the Amazon is not a peripheral region:is a prophetic center, where new paths of conversion, ecological spirituality and active hope are tested.

From the Amazon we celebratePraise be to youas a permanent call to live the faith by embracing the earth as a sister, and not as a resource. With Francis and the peoples of the forest, we renew our certainty that“everything is connected”, and our decision to continue moving toward an integral ecology that reconciles human beings with God, with others, and with creation.
