AGENDA

01
Since the Synod of the Amazon, a forum has been established to bring together the Churches of the Pan-Amazon region with a view to implementing the results of the synod itself;
02
From this expectation, the Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon was born, which at its founding did not have much resonance or participation from the jurisdictions of the territory;
03
The first steps of CEAMA, always with the intention of continuing the synodal path, were to establish courses of action based on guidelines provided by the Final Document and the Dreams of Querida Amazonía. At the same time, they sought to intensify their outreach to the local Churches, which has not been successful.
04
We lived through and suffered the COVID-19 pandemic in the early years of CEAMA’s foundation. We then deepened our unity through the Synod on Synodality, which called us to deepen our ecclesiology at the personal, community, and social levels.
05
In this sense, this Meeting of Bishops of the Pan-Amazon Region was designed, above all, to deepen our listening and, based on that, to define our collaboration in the journey of CEAMA, which is in the process of building a Synodal Plan.
06
The center of this Meeting is therefore CEAMA. However, it will not be an assembly to discuss the major pastoral issues of the Amazon, although this will necessarily arise. We hope to deepen this at the CEAMA General Assembly scheduled for March 18-21, 2026.
07
The most genuine meaning of this meeting will be common discernment to continue our synodal journey and its viability through an ecclesial conference. It will be a meeting of LISTENING with a view to the continuity of the SOLIDIFICATION OF SYNODALITY in the Churches of the Amazon, which will offer elements for CEAMA action CLOSER TO THE LOCAL CHURCHES.

08

To achieve this objective, the Meeting will build on several
perspectives:

A. First, we will return to the role of bishops as pastors of the local Churches and as those primarily responsible for synodality. We will do this in a spirit of prayer and openness of heart.

B. Identify the progress made on our synodal journey since the Synod on the Amazon and the creation of CEAMA. What motivates us and what resistance do we identify?

C. Share experiences that help us to value paths of synodality.

D. Offer concrete proposals on how we can better articulate ourselves through an Ecclesial Conference (CEAMA).
