The Pan-American Synodal Ecosystem “Together” (Juntos/Insieme) is launching a new educational initiative that is a true sign of hope and commitment on the Church’s journey. It is a massive open online course (MOOC), free and available in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, which seeks to accompany the reception and implementation of the Final Document of the XVI Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
More than a content-based course, it is presented as an experience of formation and commitment, where synodality is lived through study, reflection, and shared discernment.
A platform for the synodal journey
The “Juntos” platform accompanies the Church’s synodal process by offering theologically sound and pastorally committed formation. Through online courses, MOOCs, and formation programs, it seeks to strengthen:
• participatory leadership,
• community discernment,
• and intercultural accompaniment.
In particular, it gives priority to lay leaders, consecrated women, and young ministers, with special attention to the most vulnerable or underserved communities. Its vision is clear: to prepare leaders who embody a synodal way of being Church in today’s world.
Eight modules to walk together
The MOOC is structured in eight thematic modules, which offer a clear, dynamic, and accessible introduction to the Final Document of the Synod. Each module includes short videos by international experts—theologians, pastoralists, and canonists who participated directly in the synodal process—ensuring a close, in-depth, and up-to-date perspective.
This training program is free, with no set schedule, and allows each participant to advance at their own pace and in their own language, making it possible for communities from different contexts and realities to join in.
An initiative of ecclesial collaboration
This project is the result of intercontinental collaboration, bringing together the efforts of:
• The Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM), through its Pastoral Theological Center (Cebitepal).
• The Latin American Confederation of Religious Men and Women (CLAR).
• The Jesuit School of Theology – Santa Clara University (USA).
• The Latin American Observatory of Synodality.
• The World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations (WUCWO).
Another step forward for the Church
This MOOC is part of a living synodal journey, which Pope Francis has described as “a process of listening, discernment, and shared construction.” It is an open invitation to the whole Church to walk together, learn together, and continue to weave a community that reflects communion, participation, and mission.
- Course start date: October 20, 2025
- Registration open at: https://together.celam.org
- Format: free, no schedule, at your own pace and in your own language.
With this initiative, the Pan-American Synodal Ecosystem “Juntos” confirms that the Church’s journey today is not traveled alone, but in community, where every voice counts and every experience contributes.
