In the context of World Day of Peace, the Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) joins Pope Leo XIV’s call to renew the Christian commitment to a peace that is not only the absence of conflict, but the fruit of justice, reconciliation, and care for life in all its forms.

Inspired by the Gospel and attentive to the cries of today’s world, the Holy Father’s message reminds us that true peace is born when we listen to the cries of impoverished peoples, of wounded creation, and of new generations who long for a dignified future. There can be no peace where exclusion, structural violence, and the destruction of the land persist.

From the Amazon, this call resonates with particular force. The Amazon region continues to be the scene of profound inequalities, socio-environmental conflicts, and threats against indigenous peoples and communities living in cities. Faced with this reality, CEAMA reaffirms that defending life, territories, and cultures is a concrete path to building peace.

Pope Leo XIV emphasizes that peace is built through daily gestures of fraternity, processes of sincere dialogue, and courageous decisions that place human dignity and the common good at the center. In a synodal spirit, he invites us to walk together, overcoming indifference and committing to a culture of encounter.

On this World Day of Peace, CEAMA encourages local churches, communities, organizations, and people of good will to be artisans of peace, promoting socio-environmental justice, the defense of human rights, and an integral ecology that reconciles humanity with our Common Home.

May this day renew our hope and our commitment to continue building, from the Amazon and for the world, a peace rooted in love, justice, and care for life.
