With the motto “In synodality, guided by the Holy Spirit, seeking new paths,” the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Leguízamo–Solano celebrated with deep joy its XIII Assembly, an event that reaffirms the missionary commitment of a Church that listens, discerns, and walks alongside the peoples of the Amazon.

The Assembly began in an atmosphere of gratitude, commemorating the Jubilee of the Vicariate’s Missionary Team, presided over by Monsignor Joaquín Humberto Pinzón Güiza, who invited us to look at history with gratitude, to live the present with passion, and to plan for the future with hope. In his call, he reminded us that only by allowing ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit can we respond faithfully to the pastoral challenges of the Amazon region.

A Church that discerns new paths

In this same spirit, the XIII Assembly was opened, a space for encounter, listening, and community discernment. Religious men and women, priests, lay missionaries, and seminarians gathered to strengthen communion, review the path traveled, and plan renewed pastoral responses to the complex reality of the Amazon.

The second day featured the spiritual insight of Sister Patricia Osorno, president of the Conference of Religious of Colombia (CRC), who delved into the theme “Discernment in the Spirit,” encouraging participants to open their hearts and allow themselves to be transformed by God’s action in their daily mission. This reflection strengthened the process of developing the 2026–2030 Pastoral Plan, an instrument that will guide the Vicariate’s journey over the next five years.

Listening to the territories and joint construction

The following days were marked by spaces for sincere dialogue and collaborative work. The participants organized themselves both by vicariates—Our Lady of Carmen and Our Lady of Mercy—and by the different faces present in the territory: indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, peasants, and urban dwellers.

This exercise allowed for a deeper understanding of local realities and offered concrete contributions to enrich the new Pastoral Plan. In this atmosphere of synodality, a training session on the care and protection of minors was also held, led by Fr. Blas Lemus, Chancellor of the Vicariate, emphasizing the Church’s commitment to children, adolescents, and vulnerable people.

The Social Pastoral presented the actions carried out during 2025, giving testimony to the close accompaniment of the communities, while the day concluded with a Eucharist of thanksgiving in the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Consolata.

Closing: gratitude, communion, and hope

The last day began with the celebration of the Eucharist and the presentation of the Vicariate Administration’s annual report. The work of the Amazonian Center for Intercultural Thought (CAPI), the Listening and Well-being Center, the Marie Poussepin Welcome Center, the Educational Pastoral, the Youth Pastoral, and the Communications service was also shared, highlighting the role of the community radio station La Voz de la Esperanza.

Finally, Monsignor Joaquín Pinzón expressed a message of gratitude and missionary sending, encouraging everyone to continue working together with joy and evangelizing conviction.

CEAMA celebrates this time of grace, discernment, and mission with the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Leguízamo–Solano.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide our Amazonian Churches along paths of life, hope, and service to the peoples.
