On November 7 and 8, the Diocese of Borba held its Diocesan Assembly under the theme “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.” Delegations from all parishes, pastoral areas, missionaries, and deaneries participated in this meeting in an atmosphere of discernment, listening, and ecclesial commitment.
The diocesan bishop, Monsignor Zenildo Luiz Pereira da Silva, emphasized that it was “an evaluative and, at the same time, organizational assembly for the coming year. The dynamics of a fully synodal Church,” expressing his joy at the missionary spirit and co-responsibility present in the Diocese.
The reflection focused on the Final Document of the Synod on Synodality, highlighting the unity that generates harmony in the mission and the co-responsibility that involves all the baptized. “It leads us to value the diversity of gifts and ministries,” the bishop emphasized.
During the assembly, there was a profound call for pastoral conversion, both in relationships and in community processes. Parishes, deaneries, and pastoral groups presented their evaluations of the journey so far, reaffirming their commitment to continue moving toward a more fraternal and participatory Church.
Monsignor Zenildo invited everyone to look at the present with memory and prophecy:
“Memory brings to the present all that has been achieved, placing our work of evangelization on the altar of God, at the table of the community.”
Among the concrete signs of this synodal journey, the bishop highlighted the Fazenda da Esperança project, a diocesan initiative in defense of life and human dignity, which represents the face of a Church committed to hope and social transformation.
Finally, Monsignor Zenildo recalled that the horizon of this journey is the sacredness of life and creation, a call to live the Gospel in communion with God, with our brothers and sisters, and with our Common Home.
