The streets of Requena, in the Peruvian Amazon, were filled with joy, songs, and messages of hope during the March for Life, held on May 16 and organized by the Parish of St. Anthony of Padua of the Apostolic Vicariate of Requena.

The event brought together hundreds of people who walked together as one family to reaffirm the commitment of the Church and Amazonian society to the defense and promotion of human life from conception to its natural end.

With banners, cultural expressions, music, and messages of faith, children, young people, teachers, families, and pastoral workers walked through the city streets, giving a public witness of love, hope, and the defense of human dignity.

The march saw the active participation of various educational institutions, principals, teachers, parents, and students, who enthusiastically joined this initiative promoted by the local Church.

“The future of our Amazon says yes to life” was one of the messages that marked this significant community mobilization.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Requena emphasized that this activity is part of the Amazonian Church’s pastoral commitment to building a culture of care, fraternity, and protection of our Common Home.

The celebration also reflected the spirit of a Church close to families, youth, and Amazonian communities, promoting values of respect, solidarity, and the defense of life amid the social challenges facing the region.

The walk became a visible sign of unity and hope for the Peruvian Amazon, reaffirming that the defense of life and the care of creation are an essential part of the Church’s evangelizing mission.
