The Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) invites the People of God on pilgrimage in the Amazon, in Latin America and the Caribbean, and throughout the world, to join in prayer for the Sixth General Assembly, which will be held as a true time of grace for the Church with an Amazonian face.

Enlightened by the words of the prophet Isaiah — “I am going to do something new, which is already sprouting. Don’t you notice it?” (Is 43:19) — the Assembly is experienced as a synodal Kairos, an opportune moment to discern the paths that the Lord continues to open up among the Amazonian peoples, their cultures, their territories, and their struggles for life.

A prayer that unites the Church

As part of the preparatory journey, CEAMA has entrusted to the communities the Prayer of Preparation for the Sixth Assembly, invoking the Creator Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit—the protagonist of synodality—so that this process may be a sign of unity in diversity and a source of missionary renewal.

In it we ask for:

• Hearts open to the cry of the peoples and the earth.

• The ability to recognize the “new thing” that God is bringing forth.

• Discernment and communion to sustain the evangelizing transformation.

• Creative fidelity to a Church with an Amazonian face.

Under the protection of Saint Mary, Mother of the Amazon, we entrust this process to the action of the Spirit, so that CEAMA may continue to be an instrument of reconciliation, hope, and care for our common home.

A call to communities, parishes, and movements

We invite parishes, ecclesial communities, religious congregations, movements, indigenous peoples, pastoral agents, and all people of good will to include this intention in:

• The celebration of the Eucharist.

• Spaces for community prayer.

• Pastoral and formative meetings.

• Personal and family prayer.

The Sixth Assembly is a step on the path of a Church that desires to walk synodally, to listen to the cry of the Amazon, and to respond with prophetic courage to the challenges of our time.

May we, as a Church, recognize and accompany the “new thing” that is springing forth.

The Amazon walks toward this moment with hope. United in prayer, we walk together.
