The Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) participated in the Meeting of Coordinators of Church Communication Networks in Latin America and the Caribbean, held on June 16 and 17, 2026, at the headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM) in Bogotá, Colombia.

The meeting brought together representatives from the continent’s leading ecclesial communication networks with the aim of strengthening coordination, cooperation, and the Church’s evangelizing impact through the creation of a true “network of networks” in service to the mission.

CEAMA was represented by Fernando Rueda, communications coordinator, who shared the communications experience of the Church with an Amazonian focus and its commitment to the synodal processes taking place in the Pan-Amazonian region.

Communication in the Service of Communion and Mission

The meeting brought together representatives from the Latin American and Caribbean Ecclesial Communication Network (RECLAC), the Network of Digital Missionaries of Latin America and the Caribbean (Conectados), the Latin American and Caribbean Alliance of Catholic Audiovisual Media (ALMA), the Network of Catholic Radio Stations of Latin America and the Caribbean (REC), and the CELAM Center for Communication (CPC).

Participants reflected on the current challenges facing ecclesial communication and made progress in developing a joint strategy to strengthen the Church’s evangelizing presence on the continent from a synodal, missionary, and prophetic perspective.

Among the main objectives of the meeting were the establishment of a permanent coordination structure among the various networks, the drafting of a preliminary proposal for bylaws, and the design of a common strategic plan to foster greater levels of cooperation, synergy, and pastoral impact.

Weaving a “Network of Networks”

One of the central moments of the meeting was the session titled “Weaving the Network of Networks,” aimed at strengthening mutual understanding among the participating organizations and deepening reflection on the possibilities offered by new technologies for ecclesial communication and communion.

Bishop Lucio Adrián Ruiz, secretary of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, participated in this session, sharing reflections on the role of technology in the Church’s evangelizing mission and the need to build communication ecosystems that foster closeness, dialogue, and participation.

The agenda also included times of prayer, the Eucharistic celebration, collaborative work, and pastoral discernment, inspired by the synodal methodology of “seeing, discerning, and acting.”

Synodal Communication for a Church That Goes Forth

During the working sessions, participants analyzed the reality of ecclesial communication in Latin America and the Caribbean, identified common challenges, and discerned ways to strengthen a more coordinated and meaningful communicative presence in society.

Drawing on the Amazonian experience, CEAMA reaffirmed the importance of communication that arises from the territories, listens to the peoples, and helps give visibility to the voices, cultures, and challenges of the Amazon, in harmony with the Church’s call to walk together.

The establishment of this continental network represents a significant step toward more integrated communication, capable of enhancing the efforts of various ecclesial organizations and strengthening the evangelizing mission in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The meeting concluded with the definition of the next steps to consolidate this regional network, which aims to become a permanent space for collaboration in service to the communion, participation, and mission of the Church on the continent.
