On March 25, 2025, the 1st General Assembly and Missionary Sending of the Amazonian Intercultural Bilingual Education Network (REIBA) was held, a key meeting for the mission in the Amazon. CEAMA was represented by its vice president, Mauricio López, and by the executive secretary, Marcelo Lemos, who participated fully in the activity, which was carried out online. This presence reaffirmed CEAMA’s commitment to REIBA and strengthened the synergy between both bodies within the framework of the listening and dialogue process.
One of the most emotional moments was the recognition of Father Pablo Mora, SJ for his years of service in the coordination of REIBA. With expressions of gratitude and affection, religious, lay people and members of the network paid tribute to him, to which he himself responded with words of deep gratitude.
The day continued with a celebratory prayer on the solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, in which Monsignor David offered an inspiring reflection, encouraging everyone to remain firm on the missionary path. Subsequently, Sister Marbelys, from the congregation of the Laurita Missionaries, was welcomed, who officially assumed the coordination of REIBA with her first statement in this service.
In his speech, Mauricio López reaffirmed CEAMA’s commitment to REIBA, highlighting that accompaniment must go beyond administrative terms, betting on a true ecclesial and missionary communion. He stressed the importance of fraternal and participatory accompaniment, and reinforced the invitation for REIBA to have an active role in the preparation of the Synodal Apostolic Plan, contributing its experience and vocation in the territories.
Finally, on behalf of the presidency of CEAMA, and especially Cardinal Pedro Barreto, Mauricio López expressed his gratitude to Father Pablo Mora, SJ and welcomed Sister Marbelys. The assembly continued with the review of REIBA’s 2025 calendar, thus consolidating the next steps for its mission in the Amazon region.
