The Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) has expressed his closeness and hope before the beginning of the Conclave that will elect the new Successor of Peter. In a letter addressed to the People of God who are pilgrims in the Amazon, CEAMA has called on the communities, parishes, towns and ecclesial organizations of the Amazon territory to unite in prayer and discernment during this crucial moment for the universal Church.
“From our jungles, rivers, mountains and cities, let us raise a single voice to heaven asking that the new Pope be a faithful servant of the Gospel, that he listen to the cry of the earth and the poor, and that he continue to open paths of synodality, inclusion and care of the Common Home,” the message states.
CEAMA gratefully recognizes the deep mark that Pope Francis left in the Amazon, having placed this region at the heart of the Church with concrete gestures such as the Synod for the Amazon, the creation of CEAMA itself and his teaching in Laudato Si’ and Dear Amazon.
In that same spirit, the entire People of God is invited to support the cardinals gathered in Rome in prayer, and to trust in the action of the Holy Spirit who guides the Church and renews its mission.
CEAMA, born from the desire for a Church with an Amazonian face, reaffirms its commitment to walk alongside the new Pontiff in the construction of a synodal, Samaritan and prophetic Church, which embraces the dreams, pains and hopes of the peoples of the Amazon and the entire world.
