From June 16 to 18, 2025, the second Meeting of the Presidency, Advisors, and Executive Secretariat of the Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) was held in Bogotá, Colombia, in a hybrid format (in person and virtually).
The meeting brought together members of the Presidency, advisors, and the Executive Secretariat team to continue the synodal journey from an Amazon perspective, review the progress of the annual planning, and prepare for the process leading up to the Sixth General Assembly of CEAMA, to be held in March 2026.
During the sessions, the implementation of the Synodal Apostolic Plan was discussed in depth, in full harmony with the global process of the Synod of Synodality promoted by Pope Francis.
Key topics were also addressed, including:
- Progress in preparation for the Meeting of Bishops of the Amazon, which will take place from August 17 to 20 in Bogotá, Colombia.
- CEAMA’s participation in the Commission of Churches of the Global South in view of COP30.
- Collaboration with the Archdiocese of Manaus, the Amazonian Intercultural Bilingual Education Network (REIBA), and other partner institutions.
- Progress in the development of the Fundamentals of the General Framework of the Amazonian Rite and the preparation of the rituals.
- Institutional strengthening and collaboration agreements with universities such as UNIMINUTO and Notre Dame, and the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM).
- Preparations for the 6th CEAMA General Assembly, which will take place in Bogotá from March 18 to 21, 2026.
- Projected participation in global events, such as World Youth Day 2027 in South Korea and the World Meeting of Families 2028.
A particularly significant moment was the Conversation in the Spirit, which allowed us to discern the next steps and consolidate synodality as a way of proceeding in CEAMA.
In addition, the CEAMA Framework Project was presented, which will serve as a basis for strengthening ecclesial lines of action in the Amazon.
The meeting concluded in a climate of communion, commitment, and hope, renewing CEAMA’s missionary drive as a concrete expression of a Church with an Amazonian face, outreach, close to the people, and a defender of our Common Home.
