The Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon (CEAMA) expresses its fraternal greeting and joy for the election of the new presidency of the Latin American Confederation of Religious (CLAR), an organization that faithfully accompanies and encourages consecrated life in Latin America and the Caribbean.
In a recently sent letter, CEAMA highlights the importance of this new period for CLAR as a time of renewal, discernment and commitment to the people, especially those who live in the geographical and existential peripheries. In his words, it is recognized that “the Spirit has called them to continue a fruitful history of prophecy, dedication and service”, at a key moment for the ecclesial life of the region.
CEAMA also reaffirms its willingness to continue walking alongside CLAR within the framework of the synodal process promoted by Pope Francis. “Today, more than ever, our Churches are called to walk together, to discern together, to dream together,” expresses the message, echoing the synodal vocation that characterizes both the Pope’s teaching and the pastoral challenges of our continent.
Both bodies—CEAMA and CLAR—share a continental mission: to announce the Gospel, defend life in all its forms and take care of the Common Home, especially in contexts of exclusion, violence and ecological threat such as those faced by the Amazonian peoples.
From CEAMA prayers are raised for this new stage in CLAR, with the desire to strengthen mutual collaboration and continue weaving networks that embody a poor, servant, Samaritan and deeply Latin American Church.
